Major Moscow's Attacks Disrupt Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.

The strikes come after periods of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

He said utility staff and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
