Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
